Horse riding is an enjoyable activity that you can do when you have spare time for entertainment. However, riding one is not as simple as it may seem, you need to learn the basics in order to have a fun and safely ride with the animal. The most important parts are mounting and dismounting. Going up on a horse without the appropriate knowledge could possibly hurt you because sometimes they don’t perform things according to what you wish. Mounting – This is the first step and needs to be learned in order for you to mount on a horse. This involves countless separate acts executed in one single motion. You need to start beside the left shoulder of the horse. Then, you need to face the hindquarters of the horse or saddle while holding the reins with your left hand, which rests on the neck of the horse in front of the pommel. Use your right hand to twist the near stirrup. After this, insert your left foot in it, place your right hand on the cantle and transfer most of your weight to the left foot and the hands. Once you’re mounted, you need to position yourself into the saddle in your comfort zone.
Dismounting –beginners should know the proper way to dismount in order to step on the ground safely. To start, you need to hold both reins in the left hand on the border of the pommel. Take off your right from the stirrup then transfer your weight to the left foot and swing your right foot backwards and over the back of the horse. You need to lean against the left side of the horse and transfer all your weight to the hands. Lastly, pause for a while and take time to remove the left foot from the stirrup then there you are on the ground.
If you can do both of these tricks before advancing to the difficult part of horse riding then you will surely have the time to repeat these and have the time to master them. These are very simple tips but they are very important especially for your own safety.
